Clockwork Dental Design Services Process

Phase 1:

The process begins with a client and a vision, concept, and need for a new or improved dental or other facility. It may be an expansion, a satellite location, a move to a new location in commercial space, a freestanding building to be converted, or general improvements for flow and efficiency. From the start, there will be ongoing communication between the client and designer. We will share ideas and goals for the facility, considering all ideas and promoting the concepts that align with the client’s preferences. A location, commercial space, or existing facility is considered for the improvements. The target space will be thoroughly measured, photographed, and evaluated for suitability for the proposed facility. The accurate floor plan of the measured facility is the basis for the developing plan. Pros and cons will be discussed and addressed to assure feasibility. Designer, Marc Chase will create an initial floor plan for the facility. The proposed plan serves as a conversation piece for review, consideration, and plan improvement. The produced plan is issued for review by email. Most plan review meetings are online with screen share software. Revisions can be produced as we view the plan together online. These meetings are key to the communication required to produce a plan that aligns with your needs and vision. Our client collaboration is key to creating a facility tailored to your needs. Revisions continue to the client’s satisfaction.

Phase 2:

The Phase 2 work builds on the developed plan, adding the required utilities for the equipment as configured in Phase 1. The Phase 2 work includes plans for wood blocking, electrical & data, plumbing, and a generic ceiling grid & lighting layout. The indicated utilities are based on the client’s equipment selections and work style.

Phase 3:

Architectural review is ongoing through the process. Steven L. Lazarus is the architect of record for most of our projects. Steve’s knowledge of planning, construction, and building code is key to the development of final plans. The final stamped plans are typically submitted by the client’s selected general contractor. Required affidavits, site visits, and field reports are produced and issued to the town departments as required. Occasionally special reports and/or revisions might be required per town review. Any such requirements are addressed by the team as needed. The general contractor and subcontractors build the facility according to the provided plans. Site visits occur as needed to ensure adherence to plans and building code. When the facility is complete, a final sign-off allows the occupancy permit to be issued by the town, allowing the client to begin business in the facility. Clockwork DDS strives to understand and meet clients' needs through these three phases. We have helped many repeat clients over the years with multiple facilities, expansions, and renovations.
